The opening night party for the 18th Annual Festival of Children and its month-long September activities at South Coast Plaza highlighting a multitude of local nonprofits drew 400 people to the Plaza’s Garden Terrace. Sandy Segerstrom Daniels, founder and executive director of the Festival of Children Foundation, welcomed everyone and recognized the following for their commitment to improving children’s lives. The Carousel Spirit Award was presented to Joe and Pam Balla of The George and Betty Harbaugh Foundation. Erik Zommers from the Mitsubishi Electric Elevator & Escalator Division accepted the Corporate Partner Award on behalf of Mitsubishi. And, 12-year-old Sydnie Beidleman received the F.R.E.D Award “For Really Extraordinary ‘Do’ers.’” FestivalofChildren.org
